Purse Goes Missing, Another Retail Theft: Newtown Twp. Police Report

Police also arrested a driver for suspected DUI and filed charges for a violation of a Protection from Abuse order.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between June 28 and July 1:

June 28

  • At approximately 12:45 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Honda Pilot for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Summit Trace Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver refused to submit blood for chemical testing and charges are pending.
  • Police were dispatched to Design for Vision in the Newtown Shopping Center on West Road around 12:45 p.m. for the report of an attempted retail theft. The investigation is ongoing.

June 29

  • At approximately 11 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a driver for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Buck Road. As a result of the investigation, a small amount of suspected marijuana was discovered and seized as evidence. The driver was cited for disorderly conduct.

June 30

  • Police were contacted at 3:30 p.m. about a violation of a Protection From Abuse court order in Newtown Township. As a result of the investigation, charges were filed for the violation.

July 1

  • Police were contacted at 12:30 p.m. about a possible theft from a vehicle that occurred in a parking lot along West Road the day before. The reporting party explained that her purse had gone missing, and she believed it was taken from her car.
