NEWTOWN, PA — Several road projects in the Newtown area could cause delays for motorists during the coming week. Here's rundown of the work being scheduled.

Interstate 295 in Lower Makefield

  • Overnight bridge construction is expected to cause delays on Interstate 295 in Lower Makefield between now and Friday, June 14. From 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., a lane closure is scheduled in both directions on I-295 between U.S. Route 1 and Route 332 (Yardley-Newtown Road). Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent. Local access will be maintained up to the work zone, officials said. Lindenhurst Road forms the boundary between Lower Makefield and Newtown Township. For a four-week window, Lindenhurst Road will close completely. A posted detour will direct motorists to use the Newtown Bypass (Routes 332 and 413) and Route 532. Additional details about the closure will be communicated in advance. PECO work crews are installing nearly 9,000 feet of steel natural gas main along the roadway to upgrade its distribution system for customers in Lower Makefield and Newtown townships.
