Santa Claus is coming To Newtown for Christmas: Where To See Him

NEWTOWN, PA — Visits and pictures with Santa are treasured traditions for many Newtown families. For them, there’s nothing quite like seeing jolly old St. Nick live and in person.

In Newtown, kids have several chances:

  • Santa will light Newtown's tree and then listen to wishes from youngsters on Friday, Dec. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the parking lot next to the Newtown Fire Station at Liberty Street and Washington Avenue. Santa is scheduled to arrive around 7 p.m. There will be live music and refreshments.
  • Everyone can cheer on Santa's big arrival in Newtown during this year's McCaffrey's Newtown Holiday Parade on Sunday, Dec. 3 beginning at 2 p.m. The parade is organized by the Newtown Business Association. The parade steps off from the Stocking Works, heads north on State Street to Washington Avenue, west on Washington to Sycamore and north on Sycamore to Durham Road. Parade announcers will be located at Goodnoe Corner next to the Green Parrot.
  • Santa will greet youngsters at his house at 16 South State Street in front of Opus Elite Real Estate on weekends in December. Hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 9 and 10, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 16 and 17, and Saturday, Dec. 23.
  • Join Santa for Cookies and Milk on Dec. 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Opus Elite, 16 South State Street, Newtown. Free.
  • A Santa Brunch will be served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 17 at the American Legion, 41 Linden Avenue, Newtown. Santa is scheduled to arrive at the legion hall aboard a fire truck. The cost of the Santa Brunch is $10 with proceeds benefiting Shop With A Cop. To reserve, call 267-242-9697.

Santa arrived Nov. 5 at Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Santa’s Wonderland and will hold court through Christmas Eve. Reservations are encouraged.

Santa will also be at Macy’s stores in New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Philadelphia and Orlando. Locally, Santa will be at the Oxford Valley Mall daily through Christmas Eve. Stop by or make a reservations on the mall's website. He'll also be visiting the Neshaminy Mall Monday to Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

JC Penney stores, including its stores at Oxford Valley Mall in Langhorne, the Montgomery Mall in North Wales and Quakerbridge Mall in Lawrenceville, N.J., are offering professional portraits with Santa through Dec. 18.
