POTTSTOWN, PA — An annual Fallen Heroes Auto Show took place in this western Montgomery County borough recently, and the money raised from this year's event went to benefit the families of two local K9 officers from different police agencies who were best friends, and coincidentally died in their mid-30s just a month apart.

The program, sponsored by the North Coventry Township Police Department just over the county line in Chester County, took place this past Saturday at the Norco Fire Company in Pottstown.

The money raised is going to the widows and children of fallen Hatboro K9 Officer Ryan Allen, who passed away in April following a freak bee sting accident that led to a heart attack, and, ultimately, an anoxic brain injury, and Warrington K9 Officer Stephen Plum, who died suddenly of cardiac arrest in May.

The two men, both in their mid-30s, were considered to be best friends.

Allen worked in Hatboro, Montgomery County, but lived in central Bucks County, where Plum both lived and worked.

Patch followed the stories of both men who sadly passed away just one month apart.

Allen's widow, Whitney Allen, spoke to Patch in June about a book she is working on about her late husband and his standing in the community and their home life.

Plum, who worked as a K9 officer for the Warrington Township Police Department in Bucks County also had extensive Montgomery County roots, which were highlighted in a past Patch story after his death.

CBS 3 Philly was there Saturday during the car show, which the report says saw a rather large turnout.

Whitney Allen and Nancy Plum, both of the widows, were there and spoke to CBS 3 Philly about the support they've received since their respective husband's deaths.

The fallen officers' respective police departments were touched that the car show proceeds would be going to the families of the two young cops.

"We are humbled to know others are still doing what they can to help our Brothers' families," the Warrington Police K9 Unit posted to Facebook.
