Villanova Among America's 500 Richest Zip Codes

What other Pennsylvania towns made the list?

Villanova and Gladwyne are among the richest zip codes in the United States, according to a new study released by Forbes Magazine.

The study lists the 500 wealthiest zip codes across the nation. Much of the top 100 of the list is heavily dominated by New York and California, particularly New York City and coastal areas near San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Pennsylvania’s contributions to the list both came from the Main Line area.

In Gladwyne, meanwhile, the median home price is $1,020,082. Homes are on the market for an average of 173 days there.

Gladwyne had placed 240th in 2014.

The list was led by Atheron, California’s zip code of 94027 for the second year in a row. It had a whopping median home price of $10,564,038.

Atherton is just north of Stanford University and Palo Alto. It’s near the international headquarters of several major tech companies, including Google and Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder, has four homes in the area.

The most expensive home on the market in Gladwyne is $19.5 million. In Villanova, meanwhile, the top priced home is $5,750,000.

The list is markedly different for Pennsylvania from 2014. Two Bucks County locations, Wycombe (223) and Erwinna (225) failed to make the top 500 this year. Haverford (481) was also left off this year’s edition.

In a 2011 study by Business Week, Villanova and Gladwyne also led Pennsylvania, but placed much higher in the overall ranking. Gladwyne placed 7th, while Villanova took 30th.
