$186M Preliminary Budget For Tredyffrin Easttown School Board Adopted

The district has begun the process of preparing a budget for the 2024-25 school budget. The next budget meeting is Feb. 12.

TREDYFFRIN/EASTTOWN, PA — Tredyffrin/Easttown School Board Monday night voted unanimously to adopt a preliminary budget of $186 million for the 2024-2025 school year.

The board also authorized the district to seek permission from the state to go above the limit of a 3.5 percent tax increase. The deadline to apply is Feb. 8.

Art McDonnell, business manager, said the law requires permission to be sent to the state Department of Education to go higher than the limit. He said the district is expected to hear back from the state by Feb. 8.

There are 6,928 students in the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District, which consists of five elementary schools, two middle schools, and a high school.

The district will have several public meetings to discuss the budget in the next few months. The proposed final budget will be adopted on April 22, and the budget will be adopted on June 10.

The next opportunity to discuss the budget is 7 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Tredyffrin/Easttown Administration building, 940 West Valley Road, Wayne.

McDonnell said that the district is projecting an increase of $325,000 in revenues from taxes.
The district is also anticipating a $1.6 million increase for special education and $763,000 for special ed teachers, a psychologist, and a leadership teacher.

The district is reviewing the $2 million in debt service for new athletic fields and infrastructure projects.

Todd Kantorczyk, board president, said the district is in the early stages of budget preparation and there will be several meetings to discuss the budget before it is adopted.
