TREDYFFRIN, PA —Tredyffrin Township supervisors this week authorized the township engineering department to seek bids for two stormwater improvement projects.

The Warner Spur Bridge along Valley Creek was severely damaged during the Tropical Storm Ida in September 2021. Township engineer Stephen Burgo said the bridge suffered stone loss.

The state Department of Environmental Protection has allocated $289,000 for repairs to the bridge.

Burgo said he has worked closely with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the federal Fish and Wildlife Service, and the state Department of Environmental Protection. A certified bog turtle specialist assessed the creek.

The other project is to provide underground stormwater infiltration basins in the Crabby Creek watershed.

The State Department of Environmental Protection allocated $250,000 for the project.

In addition, State Rep. Melissa Shusterman said Thursday that a grant of $100,000 has been awarded to the Valley Forge Chapter of Trout Unlimited by the Watershed Restoration Protection Program.

"This project will fund the creation of two stormwater infiltration beds along Crabby Creek to address flooding and environmental issues, while also enhancing Brook trout restoration efforts,” Shusterman said. “Tredyffrin Township is making considerable efforts to manage stormwater, and I am proud to bring tax dollars back to the district to support this project."
