10 Candidates Will Run For Tredyffrin/Easttown School Board

The school board is responsible for approving an annual budget, setting tax rates, and employing a superintendent.

TREDYFFRIN/EASTTOWN, PA —Eight candidates are running in the November election for four seats on the Tredyffrin Easttown school board.

The district covers 38 square miles in Tredyffrin and Easttown townships. It has more than 7,000 students in eight schools.

They are Conestoga High School, Tredyffrin/Eastown Middle School, Valley Forge Middle School, Valley Forge Elementary School, Hillside School, Beaumont Elementary School, Devon Elementary School, and Hillside Elementary School.

The administration and school board are in the process of considering the construction of a new elementary school in response to a projected increase in enrollment.

In 2023, the district was ranked number 2 out of 495 schools in Pennsylvania, according to a study conducted by niche.com.

The average graduation rate is 97 percent and the average SAT score is 1,340, according to the study.

These candidates were elected in Tuesday's primary to run in the general election in November, according to the unofficial results provided by Chester County Voter Services.

Region One

Democratic Primary

  • Todd Kontorczyk: incumbent with 1,469 votes, amounting to 49.05 percent; 209 Republican votes, amounting to 12.3 percent
  • Roberta Hotinski: incumbent with 1,515 votes, amounting to 50.58; 142 Republican votes, amounting to 8.3 percent

Republican Primary

  • Sarah Marvin: 690 votes, amounting to 40.47 percent
  • Regina Mauro: 658 votes, amounting to 38.59 percent

Region 2

Democratic Primary

  • Rachel Weil: 1,228 votes, amounting to 44.57 percent; 206 Republican votes, amounting to 13.8 percent.
  • Kenneth J. Hong: 1,144 votes, amounting to 41.52 percent; 114 Republican vote amounting to 7.6 percent.

Republican Primary

  • Deana Wang: 642 votes, amounting to 43.15 percent; 291 Democratic votes, amounting to 10.5 percent
  • Bogdan Rosco: 520 votes, amounting to 34.9 percent; 87 Republican votes, amounting to 3.1 percent.

Region 3

Democratic Primary

  • Sue Tiede: 1,269 votes, amounting to 99.5 percent
  • Christina Laczko: 6 votes, amounting to .47 percent

Republican Primary

Christina Laczko; 61o voters, amounting to 72.36 percent

Sue Tiede: 232 votes, amounting to 27.5 percent.
