Berwyn Ice Cream Shop Among Area's Best, Philadelphia Magazine Says

BERWYN, PA — Summer is upon us, and that means many people are searching for cold, sweet treats to beat the heat and satisfy the sweet tooth.

And if you're in the Berwyn area, you're close to one of the best ice cream shops in the region, according to Philadelphia Magazine.

Writer Laura Swartz published a list of the best ice cream shops in and around Philadelphia recently.

Among the spots she said are go-to places for scoops in the Philadelphia suburbs was Handel's in Berwyn.

Here's what Swartz had to say about the East Lancaster Avenue ice cream purveyor:

Despite all the great city options, if you’re a true ice cream aficionado you owe it to yourself to make your way out to Berwyn for this old standby serving homemade ice cream since 1945. National Geographic named it the best ice cream on the planet in 2018, and with flavors including “Spouse Like a House” (made with vanilla ice cream and peanut butter pretzels), it’s no mystery why.
