Broken Ankle Hiker Hauled Out Of Valley Forge Park: Berwyn Fire Co

A hike who suffered a broken ankle was hauled out of Valley Forge National Historic Park Monday afternoon by local firefighters.

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — An injured hiker was hauled out of Valley Forge National Historical Park Monday by first responders, as ATVs were unable to reach the area where the hiker was.

According to the Berwyn Fire Company, its crews were called at about 2:43 p.m. to Mt. Misery in Valley Forge National Historical Park for an injured hiker.

Firefighters from Berwyn and the Valley Force Volunteer Fire Company responded to the call.

When they arrived, responders were unable to use ATVs to get to the hiker due to access issues, the fire company said.

Firefighters walked about half a mile into the park to get the hiker, and hauled them in a stokes basket another half mile to an awaiting ambulance.

According to the fire company, the hiker suffered a broken ankle and was taken to Paoli Hospital for treatment.

Valley Forge Park Rangers also provided aid during the incident, the fire company said.
