Conestoga High School Coaches Open Yoga Studio in Berwyn

Tejas Yoga Collective opened March 7, offering a wide range of yoga classes for people of all ages.

BERWYN — Two 1995 Conestoga High School graduates, Regan Marscher and Amy Orcutt, played on the lacrosse team together and went on to become college athletes.

Marscher played lacrosse at Rutgers University and Orcutt played lacrosse at University of North Carolina.

They also developed a passion for yoga, a mental, spiritual and physical practice originating in India. Both received certification to teach yoga. The practice improves posture and the ability to stay focused.

Marscher and Orcutt are both back at their alma mater coaching. Marscher is the head coach of the girls' hockey team, and Orcutt is the head coach of the girls' lacrosse team. Both women are married with children.

Marscher followed her dream, opening a yoga studio on the Main Line with her friend, Orcutt, who she calls her soul sister, teaching classes.

"We always tell our athletes to take risks with what they do," Marscher said. "Owning a business was out of my comfort zone."

But Marscher went full steam ahead, renting an office space, and tranforming it into a yoga studio.

Tejas Yoga Collective opened March 7 in Berwyn, offering a wide range of yoga classes for people of all ages.

Tejas is a Sanskrit word that translates to "an inner light" or illumination.

The center provides a variety of yoga classes including vinyasa flow, power flow and in yoga, a slow-paced quiet practice.

"We are a no judgement zone," Marscher said. "There is a false pretense that yoga is only for skinny and flexible people. It's for everyone."

The teachers have freedom to teach classes as they desire, not set format for every teacher.

More information and class schedules are available on the studio's website here.
