More Details Of Easttown Police Scam Revealed

Easttown Police said the scammer, posing as Sgt. David Gilmore, claims his targets missed jury duty and owe $8,000 in fines.

EASTTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Easttown Township Police shared additional details about the scammer posing as one of its sergeants and targeting residents recently.

According to police, the scammer spoofs his phone number to appear as the Easttown Police station's phone number.

If the target answers, he will claim to be Sgt. David Gilmore and tell the target they missed jury duty and this owe $8,000 in fees.

Police said the scammer has tried to get residents to go to the bank and also obtain gift cards.

The scammer continued with making calls Tuesday, police said.

Authorities said Easttown Police will not contact anyone about jury duty.
