NFL Hall Of Famer, Valley Forge Grad Chris Doleman Dies At 58

Chris Doleman spent a year at Valley Forge Military Academy before going on to become a hall of fame NFL star.

VALLEY FORGE, PA — Pennsylvania-raised NFL star Chris Doleman died Tuesday after a two-year battle with glioblastoma, a type of brain cancer. He was 58

Doleman was born in Indiana but went to high school in York and spent a year at Valley Forge Military Academy after graduating high school in 1980.

Doleman went on to be a standout at the University of Pittsburgh from 1981 to 1984.

He was later selected by the Minnesota Vikings as the fourth player overall in the 1985 NFL Draft.

He also played for the Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers during his career.

According to his Hall of Fame biography, he retired as the fourth-ranked sack leader of all time with 150.t sacks and was tied for third in the NFL record book with eight seasons in which he recorded 10 or more sacks.

He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012.
