PennDOT Collecting Traffic Data In Easttown Through Late November

The program will collect traffic data on municipally owned roads in Easttown to help improve safety management, officials said.

EASTTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Now through late November, PennDOT is conducting a traffic data collection program in Easttown Township.

According to officials, the program aims to help improve PennDOT's traffic data inventory critical to safety management in coordination with the Federal Highway Administration's Model Inventory of Roadway Elements.

PennDOT is contracting with Southern Traffic Services for the program.

The program will collect traffic data on municipally owned roads in Easttown Township.

The Model Inventory of Roadway Elements is a guideline to helps departments of transportation improve roadway and traffic data inventory which are used to make decision on safety, design, and operation of roadways.

Also, the local road traffic data will be reported to administration through the annual Highway Performance Monitoring System submittal.

The system's data is used for assessing highway system performance under the United States Department Of Transportation and the administration's strategic planning and performance reporting process and for apportioning Federal-aid highway funds.
