Retired Tredyffrin Police Officer Dale V. Loveland Dies At 78

Retired Tredyffrin Township Police Officer Dale V. Loveland died Monday, March 27. He was 78.

A man who dedicated his life to protecting and serving his community, Dale was the husband of the late Alice G. (Nee Cotter) Loveland, Tredyffrin Police wrote on Facebook.

Born on May 23, 1938, Dale attended Bartram HS and the Philadelphia Police Department Academy after serving in the Merchant Marines.

Dale served as an Officer with the Upper Darby Police Department before serving for 28 years with the Tredyffrin Township Police Department, retiring in 1994.

A lifelong learner, he enjoyed boating, was a self-taught mechanic and one of the first motorcycle safety instructors for PA Motorcycle Safety Program which was created in 1984.

Dale was predeceased by a daughter, Rochelle R. Loveland.

Surviving are three children: Dale Jr., Alice G. Ciocco, Cynthia (Craig) Jaros, five grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, March 31 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Alleva Funeral Home, Inc., 1724 E. Lancaster Ave., Paoli.

A Memorial Service will begin at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dale’s honor to: Barclay Friends, 700 N. Franklin Street, West Chester, PA 19380.

Arrangements are with Alleva Funeral Home, Inc., Paoli.
