Shoppers Scramble To Beat Ice At King Of Prussia Mall

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA —On a cold, rainy Friday morning, the McGuigan family of Pottstown arrived at the King of Prussia Mall an hour before the stores opened at 9.

“I am shopping for my Daddy,” six-year-old Carter McGuigan said proudly, as he looked for an Eagles hat at Lids.

“We are big Eagles fans,” his mother, Jordan McGuigan, who was sporting green nail polish for the Eagles, said. “We got here at 8 a.m.”

Jordan brought her two children, Carter, and Lybia, 2, to shop at one of the largest malls in the nation.

Carter said he hopes Santa brings him a Paw Patrol Truck for Christmas.

By 9:30 a.m. the mall was filling up with shoppers frantically looking for the best gifts two days before Christmas.

Children and parents were lining up to get photos with Santa at the carousel in the mall near Nordstrom.

At the other end of the mall, 23-year-old Celina Nguy, who was also sporting green nails, was looking for the perfect gift for her sister.

She drove to the mall after working a 12-hour shift as an aide at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia.

“I came here to get platform Uggs for my sister,” she said. “This is the biggest mall, so I thought they would have them. They were sold out. I am looking for something else.”

Nguy said it's worth the drive to the mall because there are so many stores.

“It takes forever to find something for my sister,” she said. “I love my sister.”

“We are big Eagles’ fans,” she said. “We're from Philly. I was a freshman in college when the Eagles won the Super Bowl.”

Nguy said she can hardly wait for the Eagles/Dallas game on Sunday afternoon.
