'Suspicious Item' Prompted Police Response In Tredyffrin Thursday

Tredyffrin Township Police said a report of a suspicious item in the Swedesford Plaza parking lot led them to close down the area Thursday.

TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP, PA — A "suspicious item" led to a strong police response in Tredyffrin Township, police told Patch Friday.

Police on social media at about 6 p.m. Thursday told residents to avoid the area of 260 West Swedesford Road, but reassured the public there was no threat.

By about 7:45 p.m., police provided an update, saying emergency crews were clear of the area.

Tredyffrin Township Police Lt. James Slavin told Patch via email that the incident started when they got a report of a suspicious item in the parking lot of Swedesford Plaza.

He said out of an abundance of caution, authorities closed the parking lot.
