TREDYFFRIN-EASTTOWN, PA — The Tredyffrin/Easttown School District is planning to spend the next three years working to open a new, sixth elementary school after it recently acquired a Berwyn property for expansion.

In a letter to the community, the district said its staff will be working with the school board and community to prepare for the successful launch of the new school.

The projected opening date of the new school at the 15-acre property at 1200 W. Swedesford Road in Berwyn is fall 2027.

"More detailed information and timelines will be shared with the community during public meetings in the coming months," the district said. "Throughout this process, TESD remains committed to open communication and ongoing collaboration with families, staff and community members."

Officials in the district have been mulling adding a new school due to increasing enrollment in the district, which is often included among the top districts in Pennsylvania and the nation.

"The decision to move forward with a sixth elementary school results from TESD’s commitment to providing the best possible educational experience for all District students and families," the district said. "Once the school building is open, we will have the space to provide full-day kindergarten, accommodate our high elementary student enrollment, and address expanding programming needs for all students."
