Warner Spur Bridge Emergency Repair Underway In Tredyffrin

Concrete blocks have been placed on the trail surface to prevent vehicles and pedestrians from crossing the bridge.

TREDYFFRIN, PA —Tredyffrin Township supervisors authorized spending $84,000 for engineering work to repair damage from September 2021 Tropical Storm Ida along Warner Spur Bridge over Valley Creek.

Township engineer Stephen Burgo said the bridge suffered a severe stone loss that is impacting its structural stability.

The township has placed concrete barriers above the bridge to prevent pedestrians and vehicle access.

Burgo said he has worked closely with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the federal Fish and Wildlife Service, and the state Department of Environmental Protection. A certified bog turtle specialist assessed the creek.

He said he hopes to move forward to make the repairs before the bridge gets worse.

The project will be included in the proposed 2024 budget.
