BETHEL PARK, PA — Construction has begun at South Hills Village on a project that will transform the long-vacant Sears space into an Iowa department store chain's first Pennsylvania location. Iowa-based Von Maur plans to open the two-story, 118,000-square-foot store next fall.

The store will feature an exterior brick facade. Inside, shoppers can expect an open floor plan, original artwork and entertaining music from the store's grand piano.

"The unrivaled shopping experience created at South Hills Village through its enticing mix of shopping, dining and entertainment makes it a one-of-a-kind destination and an outstanding location for us to open our first location in Pennsylvania," Von Maur president Jim von Maur said said when the project first was announced.
