WARMINSTER, PA —A project to plant native water-loving trees has received the stamp of approval from the Warminster Township Board of Supervisors.

At its June 20 meeting, supervisors head a proposal to plant 100 trees on a township-owned parcel near the Ben Wilson Community Center.

John McGee, chairman of the Warminster EAC, and Ken Jones, president of the Neshaminy Watershed Association, discussed a green infrastructure project that the association has received funding in cooperation with the township and other entities.

The stormwater from nearby developments flows into this area, ultimately making its way into the Neshaminy Watershed.

The EAC plans to plant a variety of trees, from small shrubs to large canopy trees, creating an elevated visual effect from the senior center.

They are aware of the infrastructure on the site, including gas, electric, and cable lines, and will work with the township to ensure proper planting.

Initially, they plan to plant 100 trees, with potential for more in the future.

The funding for the project comes from the EAC, and they will encourage resident participation in the tree planting and care.

Supervisors expressed support for the project, as they are committed to "Greening" the township by increasing the canopy.
