Signups Begin for EG Parks and Rec Spring Programs

It might not feel very springlike, but it's time to think about spring activities.

By looking out your window, you would never know that it’s almost springtime! With March comes a new session of the East Greenwich Parks and Recreation Department’s programs! Registrations are now being accepted at the office at 1127 Frenchtown Road and online.

The department will be offering multiple youth athletic and fitness classes: Squeaky Sneakers, All Sports, Little Yoga and Gymnastics classes for the preschoolers, Self- Defense, Youth Tennis Lessons, Shape Up and Beginner Skateboarding for youths and teens.

Various arts and learning classes are also being offered and include Picture Book Theater, Imitating the Masters, What’s Out There?-Nature Exploration and Family Music for preschoolers and for the older youths there is Robotics.

Be sure to mark your calendars for the annual Pitch, Hit & Run competition on April 25th starting at 9am for boys and girls ages 7-10 and at 10am for boys and girls 11-14 (birth date as of 7/7/15). This is your chance to qualify for this national competition that tests your baseball skills.

Adults and seniors can usher in the spring with day trips to Roger Williams Park Botanical Center, the South County Museum, the Butterfly Place & Kimball Farm, and Roseland Cottage. A great way to get outside and discover hidden treasures of the state is with the adventurous Ramblers- Hiking Group, starting March 19th and up to May 28th.

Additional adult offering to get you into shape or to keep you in shape include Body Conditioning, Yoga Stretch, Define Yourself, Zumba, Stretch & Relax, and Vinyasa Flow Yoga. Instructional classes for adults also include Beginner Golf and Tennis Lessons.
