4-Year-Old Unintentionally Left On North Kingstown School Bus: Police

North Kingstown police say the child was unintentionally left on the bus and was taken to the bus yard on Fairway Drive.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — A 4-year-old student was unintentionally left on a school bus in North Kingstown on Tuesday, according to police.

Around 10:09 a.m., police were called to the municipal office building on Fairway drive for a report of a small child wandering into the building. Police said the child appeared to be lost and had no parent or guardian in sight.

Police said they were able to identify the child and contact his mother. The child's mother picked up her son a short time later, police said.

According to police, the 4-year-old boy was a student enrolled in the North Kingstown School Department's extended school year program. Police said the child boarded a mini-bus with other students to attend school that morning.

According to police, the child was unintentionally left on the bus and was taken to the bus yard on Fairway Drive. Once at the bus yard, the driver and monitors left with the child still inside, police said. The child eventually got off the bus and was located by a town employee.

Police said the investigation determined that there was no criminal conduct.
