$10K Mega Millions Ticket Purchased In Sterling As Jackpot Passes $1 Billion

STERLING, VA — A Sterling resident won $10,000 in Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing, the Virginia Lottery announced. The lucky player purchased their ticket online through the Virginia Lottery app.

Nobody in Virginia or throughout the country has matched all six Mega Millions numbers to win the $1.25 billion jackpot.

In Tuesday's drawing, 132,000 Mega Millions players in Virginia won some sort of prize, lottery officials said.

One player in Hampton won $40,000 matched four of the first five Mega Millions numbers, along with the Mega Ball number. The player increased their winnings by $30,000 by spending an extra $1 for the "Megaplier," the Virginia Lottery said.

Another player in Madison, Virginia won $10,000 by purchasing their ticket at a Sheetz convenience store.

The next Mega Millions drawing is scheduled for Friday. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350. The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.
