ASHBURN, VA — A report of a possible abduction led to a nearly hour-long police chase and multiple crashes before a fleeing driver was arrested. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said the pursuit began in Ashburn and ended in the Tysons Corner area.

Details, including the suspect’s name and the criminal charges he faces, have not yet been released as investigators continue their work.

The sheriff's office received a call about 1:52 p.m. about an abduction that might have been in progress. As deputies arrived, the suspect drove away northbound on the Loudoun County Parkway in a black Hummer, a news release said.

Officers activated their emergency equipment and attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver continued into Fairfax County, where officers with the Fairfax County Police Department and troopers with the Virginia State Police joined the pursuit.

The vehicle continued onto I-495 north, passing Tysons Boulevard. At 2:45 p.m., the driver stopped at Chain Bridge Road and Flint Hill Road, got out of the SUV and tried to carjack a vehicle before he was taken into custody, the sheriff's office said.

Multiple vehicles were struck by the Hummer during the chase, but no officers or civilians were injured, authorities said. An estimated damage amount is not yet available.

Late Monday afternoon, the Fairfax County Police Department said in a traffic alert that one southbound lane of Maple Avenue (Rt. 123) between Nutley Street and Flint Hill Road is open. The other lane will remain closed for the duration of the investigation into the chase and crash.

Both northbound lanes of Maple Avenue (Rt. 123) are open.
