No Varsity Pigskin for Sterling's Park View High

WTOP reports Park View High in Sterling won't have a varsity football team this year.

STERLING, VA — Park View High School in Sterling is one of two Northern Virginia schools that reportedly will have no varsity football teams this school year, according to WTOP and Associated Press reports.

Only 18 players showed up for tryouts for the Loudoun County team, known as the Patriots.A similar situation is unfolding in nearby Manassas Park, where parents were informed the city's only high school would play a junior varsity schedule because less than 20 players were showing up for practices, Manassas Park High School's principal told reporters this week.

The decline may be attributed to concerns about injuries and costs of equipment, reports show.
