LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A small private plane crashed landed on the Loudoun County Parkway on Friday afternoon near Arcola Mills Drive, Virginia State Police said.

No injuries were reported in the emergency landing, state police officials said. Seven people, including five passengers, were on the plane.

Authorities said the pilot, a 27-year-old from Florida, managed to land the plane on the roadway without crashing into any vehicles.

"The only damage that occurred was to the guardrail off the right side of the Parkway," state police officials said.

At 2:45 p.m., only the southbound lanes of Loudoun County Parkway were closed.

Dulles Airport officials identified the plane as Southern Airways Express flight 246 due to arrive in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Authorities said seven people were onboard.

Flight records showed that the plane, a Cessna Caravan, took off from Dulles airport at 12:45 p.m. It landed around 12:50 p.m. on the Loudoun County Parkway, just west of the airport. The aircraft successfully completed flights from Dulles to Lancaster on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Data from FlightAware shows the flight reached an altitude of 1,100 feet before plummeting 700 feet in 32 seconds.

Dulles Airport did not experience any delays due to the emergency landing.

Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are handling the incident. Authorities did not say what factors led to the emergency landing.
