LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Loudoun County officials will gather for a ribbon cutting of a new road segment and road widening spurred by new development in Arcola.

The new 1.7 miles of Arcola Boulevard extends from Route 50 north of an intersection Route 659 (Gum Spring Road) to the intersection of Loudoun County Parkway and Route 606 (Old Ox Road). The road has four lanes and median divider. In addition to the new road segment, Arcola Mills Drive was widened between Arcola Boulevard and Yardley Ridge Drive.

With the new road, a shared-use path was added on both sides of the roads. There are new traffic signals at the Arcola Boulevard intersections with Dulles West Boulevard and Arcola Mills Drive.

The projects are part of proffers from the developer of Arcola Center, which recently announced Dulles Gymnastics as its first lease. Arcola Center will be a commercial development to meet a demand for flex R&D (research and development) and office buildings.

Arcola Boulevard is expected to open to traffic after the ribbon cutting. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31 near the intersection of Arcola Mills Drive and Arcola Boulevard in Arcola.
