LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — One suspect has arrested in connection with a shooting in Sterling earlier this week, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said.

The victim is still in the hospital in stable condition, according to authorities.

The sheriff's office identified the suspect as 35-year-old Richard Edmundson. He is charged with one count of malicious wounding.

Edmundson is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.

If convicted, Edmundson could face up to 20 years in prison.

The shooting occurred around 6:20 p.m. on Monday at a parking lot at 22000 Dulles Retail Plaza in Sterling. The sheriff's office did not provide many details about what led to the shooting in a report on Tuesday.

On Friday, investigators said they believe there was more than one suspect involved in the shooting. "The identification of the additional individuals remains under investigation," the sheriff's office noted in a report.
