Alexandria St. Patrick's Day Parade Set For First Weekend Of March

The 41st St. Patrick's Day Parade hosted by the Ballyshaners in Alexandria is coming up during the first weekend of March.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Get out your green gear and Irish spirit as the Ballyshaners present the 41st annual Alexandria St. Patrick's Day Parade during the first weekend of March.

The 2024 parade is set for Saturday, March 2 at 12:15 p.m. in Old Town Alexandria. The annual parade is organized by the volunteer Ballyshaners group, which seeks to promote Irish heritage. It typically features pipe bands, Irish dance schools, community groups, musicians and other performers.

This year's parade grand marshal is "Mango" Mike Anderson, whose first Alexandria restaurant Shooter McGee's opened in 1979 and is a partner in restaurants with the HomeGrown Restaurant Group.

The parade route runs along King Street starting at St. Asaph Street down to Lee Street. The parade then turns onto Lee Street and Cameron Street before ending at Cameron and Pitt Streets. The parade reviewing stand will be located at King and Royal Streets.
