Alexandria's Free Cone Day On April 9 Supports Nonprofit

Local officials will stop by the event to help scoop ice cream throughout the day.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Ben & Jerry's in Old Town Alexandria is hosting Free Cone Day on Tuesday, April 9. From noon-8 p.m., stop by for a free scoop at 103 South Union Street, Alexandria, VA.

The event will collect donations for The Child and Family Network Centers, an Alexandria nonprofit providing education and other services to at-risk children and their families. Employees and volunteers will help scoop ice cream for donations, joined by volunteers from PNC, Silverback Strategies and other groups.

  • Noon - City of Alexandria Police Department and Police Chief Michael Brown, City Councilmembers Amy Jackson and Mo Seifeldein, School Board Member Meagan Alderton, City Coordinator for Early Education Michelle Smith-Howard,
  • 2 p.m. - Sheriff Dana Lawhorne, Deputy City Manager Debra Collins, Deputy City Manager Laura Triggs
  • 4 p.m. - Vice Mayor Elizabeth Bennett-Parker, ACPS Director of School Business and Community Partnerships Kurt Huffman, School Board Member Jacinta Greene

Ben & Jerry's has held Free Cone Day to commemorate its anniversary since 1979.
