3 Storms Emerge In Latest Forecast: Here's When, What To Expect In VA, DC

New details and a timeline have been released regarding three storms in Virginia's weather forecast. Here's what you need to know.

VIRGINIA — Three storms are forecast for Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., through the end of the week. First, rain continues throughout Tuesday, then heaver rain is forecast later Wednesday and into Thursday and then more rain is possible this upcoming weekend.

The three rainstorms could produce more than 2 inches of rain by Sunday, March 10, the Capital Weather Gang reported Monday. With temperatures expected to be mild during these early March storms, forecasters are not calling for any icy conditions at night.

"Mild and unsettled conditions are expected this week. Rain this morning departs by this afternoon. Another round of rain is expected Wednesday. Thursday will have a brief break from the rain before more arrives this weekend," the Baltimore-DC office of the National Weather Service said early Tuesday.

Temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees above average highs in the DC region the next few days will make it feel more like April than early March.

"Local amounts of up to an inch of rain are possible along and east of I-95," said NBC Washington. "Rain totals this morning will be way lower west of Dulles Airport. With dry weather, and maybe a few breaks of sun, this afternoon most areas will warm to near 60 degrees. Make the most of the dry time, it won't last long."

Another storm system approaching from the west will bring rain back into the area Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning.

"A rapid series of wet weather systems roll through the region today into this weekend. Round one arrived last night and ends by this afternoon. Round two comes through tomorrow into tomorrow night. And round three arrives at some point Friday and probably consumes at least half the weekend. Rain totals for the week could reach 2 to 3 inches by Sunday," the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang said. "Between the rains we should be dry much of Thursday into Friday."

Another storm system is forecast to reach Virginia by late Friday. Most of the region will see rain Friday night and Saturday, with highs in the upper 50s. A chance of showers will extend into Sunday.

Here is a look at the forecast for the DC region for the rest of the week into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service:

Tuesday: Drizzle before noon, then a chance of rain between noon and 2pm. Patchy fog before 2pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Northeast wind 6 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Tuesday Night: Areas of fog after 4am. Otherwise, increasing clouds, with a low around 50. South wind 3 to 5 mph.

Wednesday:Rain, mainly after 2pm. Areas of fog before 4pm, then patchy fog after 5pm. High near 60. Northeast wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: Rain, mainly before 2am. Patchy fog before 7pm. Low around 50. Northeast wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday: A chance of rain, mainly before 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. North wind around 11 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Thursday Night: A slight chance of rain before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 58.

Friday Night: A chance of rain after 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Saturday: Rain, mainly after 8am. High near 56. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Saturday Night: Rain, mainly before 2am. Low around 48. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Sunday: A chance of rain. Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Sunday Night: A chance of rain. Partly cloudy, with a low around 37. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
