Allergy Forecast For Vienna: What Pollen Rates Are Expected

Allergy sufferers beware, as a high risk of allergy symptoms are expected in the area in the coming days.

VIENNA, VA — The warming weather is a welcome prospect for many during the coronavirus crisis, but the blossoming plants and flowers in Vienna mean that allergies are set to rev up in the coming weeks.

The parks in bloom might be nice to look at, but for many residents in the area with allergies, it means a whole lot of congestion and other uncomfortable symptoms.

The pollen breakdown from the Weather Channel in Vienna reveals tree pollen counts high on Monday and Wednesday and moderate on Tuesday. Grass pollen counts are moderate Monday but will not be present Tuesday and be low Wednesday. Ragweed pollen thankfully haven't accelerated just yet.

The Weather Channel also predicts the risk of allergy symptoms for the next 15 days. There's a high risk for allergy symptoms from April 12 to 19 and moderate risk from April 20 to 22.

According to the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, the most common symptoms of allergies are sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose, watery eyes, itchy throat and eyes, and wheezing. It's a list that people with allergies know all too well.

    • Stay inside in the morning (if possible).

"Pollen counts are highest in the early morning, between 5 and 10 a.m.," Robert Sporter, a doctor at ENT & Allergy Associates, told AccuWeather.

    • Keep indoor air clean.
    • Keep windows closed.
    • Carry an allergy relief kit that includes over-the-counter products such as antihistamines and eye drops.
