The town recommends the following tips to residents for snow removal:

  • Do not travel during snow and ice storms unless absolutely necessary
  • Avoid parking on the street during plowing (parking in a driveway reduces the chances of having to shovel a vehicle out of a snow drift)
  • Do not shovel snow from sidewalks and driveways into the roadway
  • Clear snow from hydrants so firefighters can respond more quickly in an emergency
  • Keep water meter enclosures clear of snow and ice during winter weather (if the meter cannot be read due to obstruction from snow or ice, an estimated water bill will be rendered)
  • Shovel sidewalks as soon as possible after the storm has ended and help a neighbor who may be unable, for health or other reasons, to shovel.
