Snowmageddon Hits Region 10 Years Ago: Vienna Reader Photos
Do you remember Snowmageddon ten years ago? Here's a look back on one of the region's most significant snowstorms.
We're in the midst of a rainy start to February, but the weather was entirely different exactly one decade ago. The start of the blizzard dubbed "Snowmageddon" happened on Feb. 5, 2010.
In Fairfax County, Feb. 6, 2010 set the one-day snowfall record with 25.5 inches. The highest three-day snow recording in Fairfax County happened the next day with a total of 33.5 inches.
While any accumulation is known to cause a frenzy in the DC region, Snowmageddon impacted residents on a different level. According to the Washington Post, the storm caused days of closures, supply shortages and days digging out of the snow.
