Baseball Bat Attack Leaves Victim Unconscious; Other Woodbridge Crimes

Prince William County Police are investigating separate assaults involving a baseball bat and knife, one of which left a victim unconscious.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Two separate assaults in Woodbridge drew a response by Prince William County Police over the weekend.

The first assault happened around 11:59 p.m. Friday at the Bayvue Apartments at 1300 block of East Longview Drive in Woodbridge. According to police, a group of people were on a back porch when an unknown man and woman approached. The man took out a knife and slashed a 53-year-old man before both fled.

The victim was treated for minor injuries on the scene. There were no other reported injuries.

Police and a K9 team searched the area but could not locate the suspects. The man was described as a man with black hair and white-colored clothing.

The other assault was reported to police around 2:52 a.m. Saturday in the 14400 block of Richmond Highway. Police investigation found two unknown men approached a 28-year-old man around 1 a.m. and struck him multiple times with a wooden baseball bat.

The victim became unconscious briefly and woke to find the suspects were gone. He reported the assault to police at a nearby business. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a hospital.

One suspect had been wearing a blue T-shirt and black pants, and the other was wearing a black T-shirt and black pants.

Robbery Arrest: On May 24, officers concluded the investigation into the robbery that was reported to have occurred at the Earthbound store located at 2700 Potomac Mills Cl.
in Woodbridge (22192) on February 6. While investigating the incident, officers identified the accused, who was a juvenile at the time of the incident and obtained a detention order, which was served on May 24 without incident.

On February 6 at 5:21 p.m., officers responded to Potomac Mills located at 2700 Potomac Mills Cl. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a robbery. The investigation revealed the victim, a 17-year-old male juvenile, was with two male juvenile acquaintances inside the Earthbound store when they were approached by an unknown male. During the encounter, the suspect implied he had a weapon and demanded the victim’s clothing before fleeing the store with the clothing. No injuries were reported. Officers checked the area for the suspect, who was not located.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm: On May 25 at 8:41 p.m., officers responded to the 17300 block of River Ridge Blvd. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shots fired call. The investigation revealed a group of individuals were at the park when multiple shots were fired which struck a nearby building. All of the individuals fled prior to the police arriving on scene. No injuries or additional property damage were reported. Several shell casings and bullet fragments were located in the park.
