Trump's 2024 campaign is renting the space. It is also the headquarters of the Virginia 10th congressional district Republican committee. The 10th Congressional District of Virginia includes the counties of Loudoun, Prince William, Fauquier, Rappahannock, and parts of Fairfax, Manassas City and Manassas Park.

The sheriff's office is attempting to find Kessler with the help of other law enforcement agencies and the public. Authorities say Kessler has a criminal history and may have been in the DC region since 2018. He was seen wearing dark clothing, a dark cap, and a backpack during the burglary, and he has a California driver's license.

“It is rare to have the office of any political campaign or party broken into,” said Sheriff Mike Chapman in a news release.

Mike Clancy won the Republican primary for the 10th congressional district seat, and will face Democrat Suhas Subramanyam in the Nov. 5 general election.

They are vying to succeed Rep. Jennifer Wexton, (D-Loudoun) who is not seeking re-election after receiving a progressive supra-nuclear palsy diagnosis, which she described as "Parkinson’s on steroids."

The Virginia Public Access Project labels the 10th congressional district as a competitive district. Wexton had flipped the seat in 2018 by defeating Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Loudoun).

The district covers Loudoun County, part of Prince William County, part of Fairfax County, Fauquier County, Manassas City, Manassas Park City, and Rappahannock County.
