WOODBRIDGE, VA — Bicyclists around Prince William County will have an extra incentive to ditch the bike and commute in the fresh air during the next Bike to Work Day.

The annual Bike to Work Day will be held by the Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association on Friday, May 17. More than 100 locations around DC and the Virginia and Maryland suburbs will offer pit stops with freebies.

"The goal of the program is to increase awareness of opportunities to reduce single-occupancy vehicle commuting, and therefore, reduce carbon emissions," said Bryce Barrett, principal planner at the Prince William County Department of Transportation. "The event also encourages other alternatives, such as teleworking, walking or transit usage."
