Two-Vehicle Collision Turns Fatal In Lake Ridge: Police

Prince William County Police say a passenger died over a week after the two-vehicle crash in Lake Ridge.

LAKE RIDGE, VA — A vehicle passenger died more than a week after a June 16 crash in Lake Ridge, according to Prince William County Police.

The crash happened around 11:02 a.m. on Sunday, June 16. According to police, a 2001 Ford F150 pickup truck heading west on Old Bridge Rd. was approaching the Harbor Drive intersection but encountered an eastbound 2020 Ford Edge in its path. The vehicles collided at the intersection, leading both drivers and a passenger to be taken to the hospital.

On Thursday, police learned a passenger in the Ford Edge died. He was identified as John Richard Gerald Grosskopf, 88, of Woodbridge. All other people injured in the crash, including an 18-year-old man and 44-year-old man from Hyattsville, Maryland in the Ford F150, are expected to survive.

At the time of the crash, the Edge driver, Doris Ann Grosskopf, 82, was charged with failure to follow a traffic signal. Grosskopf was released on a court summons. Police do not believe speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
