Woodbridge Teen Found With Knife At Dumfries School: Police

A 13-year-old was charged after Prince William Police say another student found him with a knife in class.

DUMFRIES, VA — A Woodbridge teen was charged for having a pocketknife at Potomac Middle School in Dumfries last Friday, according to Prince William County Police.

A school resource officer was notified of a student with a weapon around 10:59 a.m. Friday, May 24. School security informed the officer that a student turned over a pocketknife after taking it from another student.

Police investigation determined a 13-year-old student had the knife during class, leading another student to take it and give it to school security. The officer found there was no threat to other students, faculty or staff.

The 13-year-old boy was charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds. The case will be handled through the juvenile court.
