WAUWATOSA, WI — Two dogs were found abandoned in a hotel room, two cars were stolen and there were several thefts over $1,000 from March 11 to Thursday, crime logs from the Wauwatosa Police Department showed.

Thieves Make Off With Minivan

A Wauwatosa woman reported her Dodge Caravan stolen on March 11, police said. The van was taken from an apartment parking lot in the middle of the night, and police don't know who took the car.

In a separate incident, three people including a juvenile stole a Kia Soul from the Mayfair Mall parking lot on March 12, police said. The car was taken without the keys, but thieves busted the passenger side window before taking off with it.

This is the third Kia stolen in March 2022.

Dogs Left Behind In Hotel Room

Police found two dogs abandoned inside a hotel room on W. North Avenue on Thursday, police said. The person who rented the room was identified and two glass pipes used to smoke methamphetamine were found.

Burglars Steal From Mayfair Mall Kiosk

Two unknown people stole $1,271 worth of merchandise from a Mayfair Mall clothing kiosk on March 11, police said. They left in a car without a license plate attached.

Two unknown people stole $1,659.52 worth of goods from the Meijer store on 11111 W. Burleigh St. on March 12, police said. A police officer chased the suspects, but it's not clear if arrests were made.

Police arrested a man who stole merchandise from the Macy's on 2500 N. Mayfair Road on March 14. All the goods were returned, worth $1,755.49.

License Plate Stolen, License Plate Found

A Wauwatosa woman reported one of her license plates stolen while her car was serviced at a dealership on Mayfair Road on Wednesday, police said.

In a separate event, a Wauwatosa man found a loose Wisconsin license plate at a gas station on Mayfair Road and turned it over to police on March 12, police said.
