WAUWATOSA, WI — The Wauwatosa Health Department announced Friday that people should mask regardless of vaccination status as delta variant transmissions rise in Milwaukee County.

"We recommends that everyone (including fully vaccinated individuals) wear a mask in public indoor settings and get vaccinated," the health department said in a statement.

The recommendation follows new mask guidelines released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Tuesday for both unvaccinated and fully vaccinated people to mask indoors with people outside of their household.

Masking isn't required in the City of Wauwatosa, nor is there a statewide mandate. The Wisconsin Supreme Court struck down a statewide mask mandate in March. Ordinances or policies to require masking again would have to come from local authorities.
