There are two groups of month names used in Arabic, one of them is derived from English/French, This one is common in Egypt, North Africa in general, somehow in gulf states.. The second group is common in the middle east; Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, ...etc.. It is noticed that they have many similarities with Hebrew and Aramaic month names, therefore they are Semitic month names .

Here are the equivalent Arabic months names: January : Yanayir يناير Or Kanoon Ath-thani كانون الثاني February : Fibrayir فبرياير Or Shubatt شباط March: Mares مارس Or Athar آذار April : Abreel أبريل Or Nisan نيسان May: Mayo مايو Or Ayyar أيار June: Yuniyo يونيو Or 'Houzayran حزيران July: Yulyo يوليو Or Tammouz تموز August : Aghustus أغسطس Or Ab آب September: Sebtembar سبتمبر Or Ayloul أيلول October: Octobar أكتوبر Or Tishreen Al-Auwual تشرين الأوّل November: Novambarنوفمبر Or Tishreen Ath-thani تشرين الثاني December : Desambar ديسمبر Or Kanoon Al-Auwual كانون الثاني
