Space Grant Majors

It’s not just rockets.

Space exploration is an all-hands-on-deck effort. NASA’s mission to expand the frontiers of knowledge, capability, and opportunity in space requires all of us. Regardless of your academic passions or interests, NASA needs your participation and Space Grant can help connect you to life-changing opportunities that will allow you to be a part of one of the most important efforts humans can undertake.

A sustained human presence anywhere requires sustainable resources: energy, air, water, food, shelter, and many more. The challenge of developing these resources in space requires the full range of talents and professional preparation. It’s not just about rockets. We need environmental scientists who understand ecosystems, biologists who can grow food in space or understand the effects of radiation and reduced gravity on gene regulation. We need geologists to understand the rich histories of the moon and Mars. And in the short term, we need doctors and nurses who can learn to perform medical procedures in low-gravity. Whatever your major, there is a place in space for your interests!

WSGC invites you to learn more about how your major supports NASA’s mission by registering your interest and applying for scholarships, fellowships, and internships.

Share your story! If you have participated in a NASA WSGC program, please share your story here. It will help convince others that all are needed!
