Take a remote work journey around the globe with Citizen Remote

TL;DR: This subscription made my life as a remote worker way easier. Here's why you need a lifetime subscription to Citizen Remote, which is on sale for only $49.99 (reg. $299).

Just like many millennials, I found myself out of college just over ten years ago with a traveler's spirit and no idea how I was going to make a living in this life.

As time went on, I pursued my passion for art by becoming a graphic designer, which is a job that I've loved ever since. As a freelancer who consistently works remotely, I eventually (like years and years later) wanted to incorporate my traveler's spirit into my day-to-day life.

When I decided to become a digital nomad, I was trying to figure out where to go and having trouble finding a country that had the right balance of the cost of living, beauty, and a visa program that I could qualify for.

After sharing my struggles, a friend who had been working remotely for some time told me to try out Citizen Remote, which he described as a platform that's designed to help a remote worker with everything they need. When I saw that a lifetime subscription to its Premium membership was only $49.99 (reg. $299), I decided it was worth experimenting with. Spoiler alert, I've been using Citizen Remote ever since.

Getting visa assistance

Getting back to my initial challenges with deciding how to become a digital nomad, Citizen Remote helped me out immediately with its visa assistance support features. They showed me a comprehensive list of all the available digital nomad and remote work visas in the world, so I was able to decide my first destination with all of the information I had been struggling to find in one convenient place.

I ended up landing in Portugal because of a few reasons. I liked that the visa was just for one year, so I could choose to move to a new location or come home at the end of it without being locked in to a longer stay. I also appreciated that there's a minimum income requirement of 2,800 euros per month. This worked with my average income and it made me feel like there was an air of legitimacy to the visa program and that I wouldn't just be one in a free-for-all of travelers and partiers.

Finding my place

Once I set my sights on Portugal, Citizen Remote laid out a path that made it easy for me to feel like I was going with a thoughtful and safe approach.

The platform helped me find my first rental property, which was a gorgeous apartment in the heart of Lisbon. I remember really appreciating the variety of apartments, homes, and long-term and short-term rentals they had available across their inventory.

Insuring my travels

I also used Citizen Remote to find my global health insurance, which came in handy a few months down the line when I had to go to the hospital to have my appendix removed unexpectedly. That would have been a digital-nomad-life-ending cost if it hadn't been for my insurance coverage.

I remember going through the marketplace and finding the variety of coverage available via Citizen Remote to be heartening and eclectic enough to meet a wide variety of needs and income levels.

Building with Citizen Remote's unique culture and communities

While a lot of these features that I leaned on heavily during my earliest days using Citizen Remote are designed to help a remote worker get set up in a new location, it also has a lot to offer when you're already there.

I use the Citizen Remote app on my phone to keep in touch with a community of fellow travelers and digital nomads who also subscribe. It also has an amazing journey-builder tool that I've used to create itineraries and excursions that I will remember for the rest of my life. Plus it helped me find new destinations to visit and helpful deals on travel essentials like e-sims.

And back to the notion that a lot of features on Citizen Remote are geared towards setting up in a new location — I've since moved to three additional cities across Europe because I love to travel. Beyond getting started in Portugal, Citizen Remote has also helped me establish residency and carry my career and life through Spain, Germany, and France.

In conclusion, I highly recommend Citizen Remote's Premium Plan for any remote workers who are looking for help with travel, expense management, and more. You can get it on sale for only $49.99 (reg. $299).
