Channel notifications help you stay updated on ongoing projects and activities in a channel. To adjust or fine-tune the notifications you receive from a channel or specific post, update your notification settings. ​​​​​​​

Update channel notification options

  1. Next to the channel name, select More options Format icon in Teams. > Channel notifications Teams notification bell icon

  2. Select where, how often, and what notifications you want to get.

Your options include:

  • All new posts will notify you each time someone starts a new conversation in the channel.

  • Include replies will notify you when someone replies to a conversation.

  • Channel mentions will notify you whenever someone @mentions the channel.

You can also select how you receive your notifications. Banner and feed sends notifications to your device and Activity on the left side of Teams. Only show in feed skips sending notifications to your device. Instead, it only shows the activity feed.

Select Off to turn off channel notifications. When you’re finished with your changes, select Save to update them. 

Note:  Reset to default turns on notifications in your Activity feed and on your device.

Update channel post notification options 

  1. From a post, select More options Format icon in Teams..

  2. Select Turn on notifications Teams notification bell icon to be notified of any updates.

  3. Select Turn off notifications Teams chat mute icon​​​​​​​to mute conversation updates alerts.

Note: You’re automatically notified about conversations you’ve already participated in.

If you want to adjust or fine-tune the notifications you’re getting from a channel, here's how:

  1. Go to the channel and select it. In the channel, select the channel name in the top left.

  2. Select Notify me for new posts. You can choose to be notified for all new messages in the channel, or only for replies to your messages.
