Borrow from any U of T Library (Library Pickup)

Library users can request retrieval of U of T Scarborough Library material for pickup at the Info Desk, plus they can request that other libraries' collections be delivered to U of T Scarborough.

Eligibility

  • All libraries (excl. St. Augustine's) will deliver items to Scarborough. 
  • Items held at Scarborough (1st floor and storage locations) can also be requested for pickup at Scarborough.
  • Current University of Toronto students, faculty and staff are able to place requests. 
  • Visiting faculty and graduate students with Direct Borrower status are only eligible to request delivery of items held at Downsview off-site storage.

Place a request

Find the item you wish to borrow using LibrarySearch, scroll down to 'Request: Library Pickup' and choose your preferred pickup location.

Delivery time

  • U of T Scarborough available materials: 1-2 business days
  • U of T Scarborough materials in use: maximum 2 weeks
  • Material from other U of T libraries: 7 days

Confirmation & pickup notice

You will be notified by e-mail when the U of T Scarborough Library has received the requested materials. Pick them up at the Information & Reference Desk; bring your TCard. Reply to the pick-up email if you no longer need the item you requested.
Items are held for 7 days or until the due date (whichever comes first), then are returned to the lending library.

Borrow from Other Institutions

Beginning June 1, 2023 the RACER interlibrary loan (ILL) request form was retired and replaced with a new ILL request system based in LibrarySearchYou can review more information about this change.

If you have searched and are unable to find the items you need in the University of Toronto Libraries collection, you can request books, articles and more via Interlibrary Loan (ILL). We'll search institutions around the world and request a copy for you to view, borrow or download.

Eligibility

  • Current University of Toronto students, faculty, and staff are eligible to submit requests free of charge. 
  • Research Readers (excluding Direct Borrowers), Alumni Readers and Associate Member organizations are eligible to submit requests, but charges will apply ($30 per item).
  • In all cases, requesters will be notified of any charges before we proceed with filling requests.

Place a request 

Delivery time

  • It may take some time to find and obtain the item that is needed
  • Once found, electronic materials can typically be delivered to your inbox within the week, while physical materials may take longer depending on where the item is shipping from

Confirmation and pickup notice

  • When logged into LibrarySearch, check MyRequests for updates on the status of your request
  • You will receive an email when your requested material is available for pickup or download
  • Materials are to be picked up from the Info Desk
  • Please reply to the pickup email if you no longer need the item you requested

Returning materials

ILL materials must be returned to the Info Desk at the U of T Scarborough Library; please do not remove any paper affixed to the item
