A Readers' Choice Award winner is about to get a major update that may or may not have been inspired by Rihanna. It Cosmetics just revealed on its Instagram Story that more shades of its Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream will be launching very soon.

Right now, the beloved CC cream comes in seven shades: Fair, Light, Medium, Medium/Tan, Tan, Rich, and Deep. With the color expansion, It Cosmetics will be adding five fresh hues to the mix. All will help to fill in the gaps between the existing shades. On the fairer side of the spectrum, Fair/Light and Light/Medium will be joining the Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream family, while towards the middle, you'll soon be able to shop Neutral Medium. As for the deeper side of the shade range, Rich Honey will fall between Rich and Deep.

Where does the Rihanna mention come into play, though? Well, she's basically helped set a new gold standard for brands' ranges of foundation shades to live up to, if not exceed. Although there are still strides to be made to extend It Cosmetics' shade range, I commend any beauty brand that is making an effort to do so. Sure, a set of 12 shades doesn't quite match up to the 40 that Fenty Beauty and Make Up For Ever crank out, but these new hues are definitely something (particularly for a CC cream that can have a bit more flexibility in sheerness and blendability than typical foundations). Fenty Beauty, in particular, just goes to show that there's a huge gap in the market that can easily be filled. Plus, once it is, the deeper shades always seem to fly off shelves, so there's clearly a demand.

I'm excited that It Cosmetics is making its own efforts toward inclusivity. However, I might be biased. The Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream has been one of my ride-or-die base products for years. When I'm in a hurry in the morning, I slather a pump of the stuff all over my face with my hands, and it instantly reduces redness and makes my skin look flawless. I don't even need to go back in with a Beautyblender or concealer to perfect it. Everyone deserves to have that ease in their beauty routine.

A launch date for the new It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream shades hasn't been announced just yet, but you can shop the existing shades now on sephora.com for $38 each.
