I'm a routine Anker customer and have been very happy with the cables and adapters I purchase from them. Unfortunately, this item stands out as an unusual dud.

After using the product for a year, it completely failed on me. Seemingly in an instant, the hub became a brick that would not register with any machine I plugged it into, nor would it display signs of life when plugged into several different outlets.

Anker replaced my hub under its warranty program, but requested the original back so their engineering team could research the defect. The replacement hub (mostly) worked for the next year, except that it would cause a maddening intermittent flickering on my monitor that required me to reboot the monitor, the hub, or the computer. After purchasing a different display recently, the hub has started to fail again. On both Windows and Mac, the screen will turn black for several seconds at a time before turning on again, repeating this behavior randomly.

I've decided to cut my losses, and have had to switch back to a cheap dongle-style hub. It's frustrating that the inexpensive dongle is more stable than this expensive Anker hub.
