Definitely filters out the chlorine and keeps water cold. I haven't had for very long and I purchased two of these, the light blue and dark blue. The dark blue may have been from a different seller though not sure. The reason I mention that is because this one, the light blue bottle, I followed the directions exactly for first use but when I tried the water after wards I could taste a very strong taste of "carbon". I can only assume it was the carbon filter? given the taste I was tasting. So, I took it apart and repeated the rinsing directions two more times and cleaned out the bottle again. Still got the same "carbon" taste so I repeated the rinsing for longer and washed the bottle and pieces again, let it dry out completely. I'll update this review after I've tried it again, but so far I'm a little bummed, I was really excited for this to arrive because all I drink is bottled water and feel terrible about all the plastic bottles I use. I was hoping this would help. The dark blue bottle is perfect though, no carbon taste at all, but again I think it might have been from a different seller than this light blue bottle.
